Eastern Region Awards of Excllence.

Last night was a very successful night for the Club at the Eastern Region Awards of Excellence. All of our members' volunteer energy, our sporting achievements, membership, Lifeguard Awards and refreshers completed, Junior Surf activities and accomplishments, event hosting, lifeguard development courses, statistics and overall performance have resulted in Waihi Beach LGS being named ZESPRI® Coromandel Club of the Year 2018/19. This is three years consecutively which shows how hard everyone has worked for this amazing cause.

Our stunning leaders were recognised in many lifeguarding categories for their extraordinary achievements. There were often 10-12 entrants with only one winner and they are:

Lifeguard of the Year - James Lloyd
U19 Lifeguard of the Year - Bree McCowatt
Regional Lifeguard of the Year - Lucy Scown
Patrol Captain of the Year - Georgia Eldridge
Instructor of the Year - Hamish Clayton
Examiner of the Year - James Lloyd
Rookie of the Year - Keaton White

Finalists
Rescue of the Year - Waihi Beach Lifeguards

The Board is so proud and these awards again proved that the Club’s success is a joint effort by a great team of leaders.

Thank you to all of our volunteers, lifeguards, coaches, officials, team managers, sub-committee members, our supporters and our staff; we couldn’t have done it without you.

Thanks to Zespri for their ongoing support of lifeguarding as their generous contribution to funding training has helped our lifeguards achieve greatness.

Look forward to celebrating our success at opening weekend. Roll on summer.
