New BMX Track and Rescue Hub Taking Shape at Bowentown
Bowentown Rescue Hub Update: BMX Track Upgrade!
Work continues behind the scenes at Bowentown as Waihī Beach Lifeguard Services makes progress on its new Rescue Hub – and the latest update includes a welcome boost for BMX riders of all ages.
Now, with help from the Waihī Beach Mountain Bike Club, Kris Wilson, and Jeff Carter from Southstar Trails, a new dual-loop layout has been created. The design allows for both younger and adult BMX riders, with the option to link both loops into a longer run. The track will be shaped by a team of local volunteers once earthworks are complete.
Below, you can see the concept drawing showing the planned layout of the Rescue Hub and upgraded BMX track along Seaforth Road. It’s a great example of community collaboration in action – not only coming together to retain a valued BMX track, but to improve it for the future, while supporting future rescue capability.
Alongside this, the club has launched a Rescue Ready Sponsor Board – a way for families, individuals, and businesses to help equip the new hub with essential gear. Items range from radios and first aid supplies to torches, wetsuits, and lifejackets.

Every item sponsored brings the Bowentown Rescue Hub one step closer to being fully equipped and ready to serve.
